FORBIDDEN LOVE

Illicit  Sultry  Passion...

Okay, so I really am ready for a light spead jump! I've sat on this for too long and I'm announcing it here and now!

I recently signed a contract with Red Rose Publishing for my science fiction/futuristic romance
FORBIDDEN LOVE

I don't have a cover yet or a release date.

But I thought it would be nice to share one of my blurbs for this story with you. I hope you enjoy it!

Galaxies apart so different yet so much alike…

While Dr. Maya Belle is researching wildlife habitats in the far desert region of her world, a sudden burst of sand engulfs her. She goes to investigate and cannot believe what stumbles out of a massive dune. She soon finds out she is in the company of a sexy alien from another galaxy…

T’Kon from the planet Asconage is on a peaceful survey mission studying a distant world known as Terrain. When his spacecraft malfunctions, he crashes into its desert. A female named Maya gives him aid, and a steamy lust grows between them. A sultry interspecies passion neither can resist.

To avoid detection by the warring factions governing her world, he must repair his damaged craft and leave. Can she convince him to take her with him, or will he set forth without her and forsake their forbidden love?

Best Opening Lines Day!

This is the day I promised to feature the best opening lines! These opening lines are like flowers ready to bloom forth into great stories! Some writers sent lines from favorite published authors while others sent their own awesome opening lines! The following are the ones I received. Are you ready? Here goes!

~~~~~~~~~
Cari Quin says, "My current Blaze WIP, Heat Lightning has this first line:
Dumped, on Valentine's Day no less.
~~~~~~~
Karen Clark shared this opening line from her first novel:

Wednesday evening was memorable for all the wrong reasons.

~~~~~~~
Linda Banche had a great opening in Pumpkinnapper.
"You--you pumpkinnaper!"
With only the greatest difficulty did Henry, Baron Grey, prevent his jaw from sagging onto his chest.
~~~~~~~
Catherine Bybee said I could use this line, though not an opening it is is a good one.

"A lady is not safe out here by herself."
~~~~~~~
April Vine says, I love the opening from Pride and Prejudice.
It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife.
~~~~~~~
Jaime Saare says her favorite opening line is from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - The Confessions of Max Tivoli.

We are each the love of someone's life.
~~~~~~~
Clare Revell shares this opening from one of her own stories.
Halfway across the junction the clutch snapped with an audible pop and Holly's foot hit the floor with no resistance.
~~~~~~~
Sarah Simas says her all time favorite is from Castles by Julie Garwood.

"He was a real lady killer."
~~~~~~~
Linda Rader offered this classic line from Gone with the Wind to our mix of great lines.
"Scarlett O'Hara was not beautiful, but men seldom realized it when caught by her charm as the Tarleton twins were."
~~~~~~~
Helen Hardt says, you know my favorite opening line.

"My what a beautiful cock!"

Rooster, that is...
~~~~~~~~
Okay, I know it wouldn't be fair if I didn't share one of favorite opening lines too. It was a tough choice because I have so many favorites from so many authors.
Kaye Manro -- First from my story, Knight Spell.
She must make it back to the rift before a timeline shifted again...
And from my latest contracted story, Forbidden Love.
Not ready for contact with other intelligent lifeforms.
~~~~~~~~

Well there you have it. If anyone gets inspired and still wants to submit their favorite opening line, do it today and I'll post it here now. But hurry, this post stays on top today and tomorrow only. And if I missed anyone who sent me a line, please let me know and I'll post it right away.

I hope you enjoyed these great opening lines. I sure enjoyed collecting them!

Light Speed Jumps

I've been flying around the galaxies at FTL! (faster than light) Spending lots of time with my Science Fiction characters. The Galaxy in the photo is Pegasus. It's where my hero lives. You know, the one with the strange skin color and odd features. His home planet is in a Solar System near the Pegasus outer rim. His world, called Asconage differs from ours in several ways. For one thing, it's more arid and dry like a desert with lots of oranges reds and purples. And it's hot. Really hot. But he can take it.

His culture is way far technologically advanced than ours. He's an explorer and First Contact Diplomat. He spends a lot of time in his small one-man spacecraft light speed jumping through the Event Horizon, studying and sometimes rendering aid to planets and cultures on the cusp of deep space travel.

It's about time he met his heroine, don't you think? She's from a planet much like our Earth, called Terrain. The cultures there are just about ready to give space flight a shot, though they have spent way to much time and energy warring amongst themselves.

My hero ventures into the Terrain Solar System near the Orion Nebula because his long range sensors detect their emerging technology so he goes to investigate. He takes up a distant orbit in his cloaked spacecraft, but it doesn't take him long to discover that the beings of this world have a way to go before they are ready for an authentic alien encounter!

When he prepares to leap back through the Event Horizon, something happens to his spacecraft and he spins out of control. He makes an emergency crash landing on Terrain. Of course he aims his craft for the nearest desert basin. Guess who is in the desert near where he crashes researching wildlife habitats? Right. His heroine. She hasn't exactly been waiting for him, but here he is, almost in her backyard. What happens between them is, well very interesting to say just a little. Stay tuned. You'll be hearing lots more about my space hero and heroine soon...

And while we are on the subject, I must congratulate my friend, Linda Banche. She just finaled in the Eppie Awards with her Regency/Sci-Fi Romance, Lady of the Stars. Yea, Linda!

And I haven't forgotten! I'm posting all the Best Opening Lines everyone has sent to me on Wedensday the 18th!

Great Openers

What do you think when you read this opening line?

Kayla's skin itched with a wicked fever...
(Opening line from The Wolf's Reclamation by Rhonda Dove)

We hear a lot about stellar openings and first lines these days. I know I've discussed this before as well. But as I've come to realize, openings, no matter how great still have to fit the story we are writing. I don't know about you, but I'm totally drawn in by Rhonda's opening line above. I can assume from the title this is at least about a wolf. A werewolf? I really do want to know what kind of itch or wicked fever Kayla has, who she is and what she is doing. I'm hooked.

Now it's time for me to stop and pose a question to everyone. What do you think about opening lines or paragraphs? I would like you to tell me. I'm asking you to send me your best and favorite openers from your own stories (or another author if you like) and explain why you think it hooks you. Send your great openers to me in an Email Here and when I accumulate enough, I'll do a blog post and share them with everyone.

Show us all why your work has or is going places! I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
