Welcome Diane Dooley! A Special Guest for a Blog Hop Day

St. Patrick's Day weekend is a great time to host the fabulous SFR author Diane Dooley. She is celebrating the March 13th release of her latest e-book, Mako's Bounty. I am so pleased to have her here today. Needless to say I'm captivated by the forbidden love theme of this book and look forward to reading its intriguing story. Diane is giving away a pdf download of Mako's Bounty to one lucky person, so read on and be sure to leave a comment with your email information and you'll be included in the drawing.

Mako’s Bounty: Enemies On A One Night Stand

I love the romance trope of forbidden love and I tackled it in Mako’s Bounty with gusto. Mako and Vin are enemies. She’s a bounty hunter who’s been tracking the wily space pirate for months. She’s gotten close to him before, but he’s always managed to wriggle out of her clutches.  Not this time, heh. Mako is pretty sure he won’t escape her again. She’s lured him to a one night stand with the woman of his feverish dreams - herself. But Vin is a lot smarter than she thinks. When these two come face to face for the first time...well, enemies have been known to fall in love.

In tales of forbidden love it isn’t uncommon for the lovers to realize that, though they may be very different people on the surface, there is something very powerful that they have in common. This is true of Mako’s Bounty. Mako hunts on behalf of a mining megacorporation that treats its employees like slaves; Vin is Ravenscorp’s public enemy number one, spending his life in violent opposition to corporate hegemony. But when Mako and Vin meet, they soon realize they have one very important thing in common, and Vin exploits this to the fullest, determined to win Mako’s loyalty.

It was incredibly fun to write this short, sexy and humorous little tale. Even in a story this short (32 pages) I still managed to build in all kinds of interesting little tidbits, from political shenanigans to religious belief, from human evolution in space to new advances in sexual protection. Someone once said of me that I do not waste a single word in my writing. My editor, the lovely Kate Richards, might disagree with that *grin* But I can guarantee that I wrote every word of this book with love and giggles and a goofy-looking smile. I hope readers laugh their way through this love story, too.

I’m delighted to give away a pdf copy of Mako’s Bounty to a random reader of Kaye’s blog. To enter the giveaway please answer this question: what is your favorite tale of forbidden love?

Thank you, Kaye, for hosting me!

Mako’s Bounty is an e-book, available from Decadent PublishingAmazon and all the usual online retailers. You can read the opening Here.

Bio: Diane Dooley was born in the Channel Islands and grew up in Scotland. After many years of moving and traveling she finally settled down in Upstate New York where the summers are short and the winters just might kill you. She lives with her best friend/husband, who can’t fix a damn thing, and two obstreperous boy children in a falling-down farmhouse in the sticks. She is very happy.

You can check out her previous and upcoming publications on her blog, Diane Dooley: Writing, Stuff and Nonsense.

Thank you Diane for sharing Mako's Bounty and such a great giveaway!

This sounds like a fun story. I always think of Romeo & Juliet when I think of Forbidden love. It's a classic. Like you, I love the trope.

Congrats on your release.

I like the forbidden theme too. Your book sounds like one I'd enjoy reading.

Forbidden love is always a pleasure to read, and makes for such wonderful and satisfying endings.

The first that came to mind was Romeo and Juliet, then next was Avatar.

No need to enter me, as I already own a copy of Mako's Bounty.

All the best to Diane and Kaye!

I love A Knight's Tale, where William Thatcher's humble birth should mean his true love is beyond him. But Fate finds a way for them to be together in the end.

LOL. I haven't been too lucky lately, but I still wanted to come by and congratulate Diane.

I really like the premise of this story and the cover hits it out of the park.

Ya dun good! Congrats!

I really enjoyed Lisa Valdez's romance novel, Passion. The hero finds his perfect match in the heroine, but then discovers he can't have her because he's already engaged to her cousin. It made for some great angst.

This looks like a very interesting read. Thanks for the chance to win a copy - I can't resist.

That's a tough one...Dark Lover (and some of its sequels) is somewhat of a tale of forbidden love. Vampires and humans aren't supposed to be all chummy :P

Thanks for the chance to win!

I also think of Romeo and Juliet, the Forbidden Love Story.
I think stories with this premise add that extra amount of tension.
I bet this one is just as good.
Congratulations. :)

Forbidden love is one of my favorite themes. I wish it were more common in today's romance fiction.

I suppose my all-time favorite story of forbidden love is the legend of Tristan and Isolde. So sad yet so beautiful.

Keep up the good work!
