Turning Off Captcha?

The last several days I turned off that bothersome Captcha, the anti-spam tool we have to deal with every time we comment on a blogspot post. I did this for two reasons, first I wanted to see how much spam actually could get through without any catcher at the gate. And I also wanted to make it easy for the latest blog hop as well as the commenters for my special guest, SFR author Diane Dooley

So how did it work out? Well, I didn't see a lot of spam on Diane's guest blog post. But I got spammed throughout the entire blog on several different posts. Okay, so I'm turning it back on. Sorry folks. I truly do not like it, but as long as we have idiots out there who insist on spamming us with their stupid stuff, I suppose I'm stuck with it until I figure out a better way.

So, Captcha you are back on this blog.

I understand completely. I put posts older than two days old on moderation so I can block the spammers before they can post.

The only thing I wish you'd add is the "subscribe to comments" tool. I like to read other people's comments after me.

Thanks Maria. I'll see if I can turn that on. Great idea!

This is great that you gave it a try. I've wondered how much spam would hit without it, so now I know. Blog spam is even more annoying than those flyers under your windshield wipers - you know, the ones you don't notice until after you've pulled out of the parking lot. Wish the spammers would just quit it.

I just found you blog following the links on Diane Dooley's blog hop. SFR is my favorite even though I review a mix on my blog. I am a new follower.

I've been thinking about turning off my captcha, but after reading about your experiences, Kaye, I think I'd better stick with it. It can be very annoying though!
